On the sunny afternoon of Saturday, May 2nd supporters of the Chopin Garden gathered at 11th Street and Michigan Avenue to listen and experience a live piano concert of Chopin's greatest compositions. The Chicago Chopin Foundation in partnership with the Grant Park Conservancy planned the event that was attended by over 300 people. The pianist Konrad Binienda delivered a powerful performance that was greeted with a standing ovation. The broader goal of the event was to introduce and engage the public in supporting the Chopin Garden project which is working toward erecting a statue of pianist Fryderyk Chopin. Outdoor piano concerts will become common at the Chopin Garden and will allow the public to experience professional recitals in a unique setting under the open sky.
